Movement therapy

Movement therapy is a section of rehabilitation that includes both methods of assessment of a person’s physical condition and different active and passive treatment methods.
Commonly used evaluation methods are: analysis of posture and gait, range of movements, assessment of muscle length and strength, assessment of balance and coordination, evaluation of muscle-ligament system tension, tests to define reaction of the coronary and vascular system to physical activity.
The purpose of treatment course is defined and a treatment plan is drafted based on the evaluation results and the person’s complaints.

 

Physical therapy remedial process includes several active methods:
- dynamic therapeutic exercises for enhancing muscle strength and stretching;
- for training balance and coordination;
- for increasing endurance;
- for correction of posture;
- for relaxation;
- for correction of ingrained habitual body movements, etc.
A physiotherapist also uses passive methods in his/her work - soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilization, passive movements or warm applications, etc. Physiotherapy also uses specific methods, such as Bodata therapy, training of local active stability of a spinal column, Feldencrise method.
